Family Fun Day 2025
Tifton Housing Recognitions
THA partnered and hosted a 4 week after-school arts class with the Tifton Council for the ARTS in May of 2025. Youth residents were able to participate in activities such as painting flowerpots, creating their own kites, pottery, chalk art, etc. They were served refreshments and even completed the program with an art supply pack. The classes were led by the Children's Engagement and Education Director, Chelsea Webster.
THA kicked off this summer with their annual summer literacy program. This program is for youth residents, K-2nd grade. It primarily focuses on seeking ways of teaching strategies and skills needed by students to improve their reading abilities, however, this year the program has also branched into some ELA and Mathematics skills. The Tift County Public Library joins the program every Tuesday to further assist with reading skills. The program will end at the end of the month (June 2025) with a bowling trip at Tift Co. Lanes. We are so excited about the continued success of this program. Staff includes: Instructors: Dr. Tamisha Blackshear and Malayja Tucker, Classroom Helpers: Seneca Clark and Kimbernesha Barnes, Transportation: Malissa Burks.

Quick Tips - Beat the Summer Heat
- Stay Hydrated - Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you're not thirsty. Avoid sugary or caffeinated drinks.
- Use Fans and A/C Wisely -Keep blinds closed during the day to block out sunlight and run fans counterclockwise to push cool air down.
- Dress for the Weather - Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing and a wide-brimmed hat when outside.
- Take Cool Showers - A quick rinse in cool water can lower your body temperature fast.
- Limit Outdoor Activity - Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day (usually between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.).
- Eat Light Meals - Choose fresh fruits, salads, and water-rich foods to help keep you cool.
- Check on Neighbors - Make sure older adults, children, and those without A/C are staying cool and safe.
- Visit a Cool Spot - Libraries, community centers, or designated cooling stations are great places to escape the heat.
CEO's Message
As summer heats up, I want to take a moment to thank all of our residents, staff, and community partners for continuing to make Tifton Housing Authority such a vibrant and welcoming community.
This season is all about connection-whether it's children enjoying their summer break, neighbors catching up outside, or families coming together for events that make lasting memories.
One of those events was our recent Family Fun Day, and what a day it was! From the laughter of children running through sprinklers to the delicious food, music, free books, game truck, and helpful community resources-it was a full day of fun from start to finish. Thank you to everyone who helped make it a success, including our volunteers, vendors, and partners. It was a great reminder of the strength and spirit of our community.
